• Barnes & Noble announces Galaxy Tab A NOOK built by Samsung

Barnes & Noble announced a new NOOK tablet on Wednesday, the Galaxy Tab A NOOK. It’s the latest product built by Samsung, which has been developing Barnes & Noble’s NOOK tablets for the past several years.
The Galaxy Tab A NOOK features many of the specs of the existing Galaxy Tab A, but it is powered by Barnes & Noble’s custom software that provides quick and easy access to more than 4 million books, 80,000 audiobooks,  graphic novels, newspapers and magazines and more. The Tab A NOOK is built on Android 5.1 and provides full access to the Google PlayStore, which gives it a leg-up on Amazon’s products. It features a 7-inch display, an FM radio, GPS and a few other tricks up its sleeve, though it’s primarily designed to serve as a media consumption device.
For most folks, the vanilla Galaxy Tab A, now more than a year old, is probably the better bet, but consumers who are already invested in the Barnes & Noble ecosystem, or who want a very simple tablet, may find this attractive, too.
The Galaxy Tab A NOOK is available today online and in stores for $139.99. Folks who own previous NOOK by Samsung devices can grab the device for just $99 if they prove they already own a NOOK device, or want to trade theirs in.
