Microsoft's new Surface Studio, an ultra-premium AIO aimed at designers and other creative professionals, was announced earlier this week. The sleek AIO brings together top-end hardware and professional-grade software in a sleek package that will catch the eye at first glance. Here's everything you need to know about the new Microsoft Surface Studio desktop.
Microsoft Surface Studio features & specifications
The Surface Studio has a 28-inch LCD touchscreen that Microsoft claims is the thinnest LCD monitor ever built; the display panel has 4500x3000 pixel resolution (63 percent higher than 4K) and 192ppi pixel density. A hinge lets you switch from the standard upright angle to Studio Mode, in which you can rest your hand on the touchscreen, compatible with the Surface Pen, to write, paint or draw on the display.
A new accessory called Surface Dial lets users control aspects of their work using their non-dominant work; for example, placing the Dial on the screen opens up the colour palette, brush options etc. The Surface Dial can be used on the touchscreen or placed on the desk to control the software on the screen via haptic feedback. The Surface Studio has a 28-inch LCD touchscreen that Microsoft claims is the thinnest LCD monitor ever built; the display panel has 4500x3000 pixel resolution (63 percent higher than 4K) and 192ppi pixel density. The Surface Studio is no slouch in other hardware aspects either, offering sixth-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 options, up to 32GB RAM, up to 4GB Nvidia GeForce graphics, and 1TB and 2TB storage options. For connectivity, the ultra-premium AIO has USB 3.0 (x4), SD card reader, and Mini DisplayPort. The Windows 10 Pro desktop, which weighs 9.56 kilograms, offers enterprise-grade security and 5-megapixel webcam with 1080p video.
