Fiat 124 Coupe rumoured to be in the works
New fixed-roof 124 could deliver a bigger punch
Is a Fiat 124 Coupe in the works? If the rumours are true, the new fixed-roof 124 could be revealed to the masses as soon as next year.
Autocar reports that a Fiat 124 Coupe is in development now and will pack a bigger punch than the Fiat 124 Spider. The new rear-wheel-drive Coupe could adopt the Abarth Spider’s 1.4-litre turbo engine, which delivers a robust 178 horsepower.
Unlike the Mazda MX-5 RF, which features a retractable hard-top, this new Fiat will be designed as a coupe from the ground up to help differentiate the 124 from its closely related Miata cousin.
If reports are true, Fiat is hoping to push this new 124 Coupe as a more performance-oriented two-seater, and that sounds just fine to us.
